Discover the Former Japan National Railways Shinjō Station Engine Depot, a historic red-brick and wooden structure dating back to 1903 when Shinjō Station first opened. Located a short walk north of Shinjō Station, this well-preserved depot once served as a vital maintenance hub for trains. While interior access is restricted as it's still in use by JR East, you can admire its architecture from the station platform or nearby. The turntable, though off-limits, can be viewed up close. It's a must-see for railway enthusiasts visiting Shinjō.
