The Wakayama Bokusui Song Monument is located just outside the west exit of JR Kitakami Station. It features the poem "Ikusayama kawa kosari yukaba sabishisa no hatenamu kuni zo kefu mo tabiyuku," written by Bokusui Wakayama, a famous poet from the Meiji to Showa periods. The monument commemorates Wakayama's visit to Kitakami in 1926. It's a convenient spot to appreciate a piece of Japanese literature while waiting for your train.
