Fukuyama Castle, easily accessible just a 5-minute walk from Fukuyama Station, is a must-see historical site. Originally built in 1622, it features relocated structures from Kyoto's Fushimi Castle, including the Fushimi Yagura and Sujigane Gomon Gate, which are designated Important Cultural Properties. The castle tower, rebuilt after being destroyed in the war, now houses a local museum displaying artifacts from past feudal lords and the Kusado Sengen Town ruins. Don't miss the reconstructed iron-clad north wall of the keep, offering a glimpse into the castle's defenses. Note that the Fukuyama Castle Museum is currently closed for major renovations and is scheduled to reopen on August 28, 2022.
