Kasugayama Shrine, dedicated to Uesugi Kenshin, is located on the historic site of Kasugayama Castle in Joetsu, Niigata. Founded in 1901, the shrine features a striking Shinto-style building and a memorial hall displaying Kenshin's artifacts. Visitors can explore the serene grounds, view a monument to children's author Ogawa Mimei, and enjoy the vibrant autumn foliage, especially the maple trees. The shrine is a 40-minute walk from Kasugayama Station or a 15-minute drive from Joetsu IC. The Kasugayama Shrine Memorial Hall is open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM (closed December to March), with an entry fee of ¥200 for adults and ¥100 for children.
