Sugao-numa Marsh, located between Bando and Joso cities in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a long, narrow natural marsh known as a haven for migratory birds. From late October to late March, visitors can observe flocks of swans (primarily Whooper and Tundra swans) numbering over 400. Key viewing points include the Fureai Bridge at Asunaro no Sato, the Nakago Bridge at Muryoju Temple, and Tenjinyama Park along Route 354. The marsh is adjacent to the Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of Natural History and Asunaro no Sato, making it easy to combine visits. Dress warmly, as the waterfront can be chilly. The surrounding area is designated as a natural environment conservation area, home to over 500 species of flora and fauna.
