The Hounenike Dam, completed in 1929, is one of Japan's earliest multiple-arch dams and is designated as an Important Cultural Property. Its unique design, featuring five arches and six buttresses, resembles a medieval European castle. Located in Kanonji, Kagawa Prefecture, it's a 25-minute drive from Kanonji Station or 15 minutes from Ohnohara IC. The dam is free to visit, offering scenic views and a glimpse into historical engineering. The annual "Yurunuki" (water release) in summer is a popular event. Visitors can explore the dam and the adjacent Yusui Park for a closer look at this impressive structure.
