Ryuko-in Temple, located a short walk from JR Uwajima Station, is a serene temple with historical significance. Founded by Hidemune Date in 1615 as a guardian against evil influences for Uwajima Castle, this temple offers beautiful views of the city and the castle itself from its elevated grounds. Visitors will need to climb a set of stone steps to reach the main hall, where they can also find a mini-pilgrimage route of 88 temples. The temple features notable sights such as the Hokyoin Tower, a city-designated cultural property, and a monument to Basho Matsuo. Ryuko-in is a peaceful spot to enjoy panoramic views and a touch of history.
