The Site of Choei Takano's Residence is located near JR Uwajima Station, offering a glimpse into the life of the Edo-era scholar Choei Takano. Takano, a key figure in Rangaku (Dutch studies), sought refuge here under the protection of the Date clan after being persecuted by the shogunate. While the current building is a reconstruction from the Meiji era, it evokes the atmosphere of his hideaway. Situated near Hozumi Bridge and the Tatsuno River, the site provides insight into Takano's life and the history of Uwajima. The area is easily accessible and can be explored while strolling through the city.
