Amakusa Collegio Museum

Overview

The Amakusa Collegio Museum showcases the Nanban (European) culture that flourished in the late 16th century. Located in Kumamoto Prefecture, it's easily accessible by car from Kumamoto City. Key exhibits include replicas of Western antique musical instruments and a Gutenberg printing press, as well as a Nanban ship model. The museum also features exhibits on the history of Christianity in the Amakusa region before the era of hidden Christians. Allow at least an hour to explore the exhibits and learn about this fascinating period of cultural exchange. Open to all ages, with discounted rates for groups.
