The Yahiko Chrysanthemum Festival, held annually from November 1st to 24th at Yahiko Shrine in Niigata Prefecture, is one of Japan's largest chrysanthemum exhibitions. Unlike typical chrysanthemum doll displays, this festival showcases meticulously crafted chrysanthemum arrangements and bonsai. A highlight is the large-scale floral display featuring 30,000 small chrysanthemums, with a different theme each year. Located a 10-minute walk from Yahiko Station on the JR Yahiko Line, or a 25-minute drive from Sanjo Tsubame IC on the Hokuriku Expressway, the festival offers parking for 2,000 cars and 20 large vehicles. It's best to visit mid-November to see the chrysanthemums in full bloom.
