Kotan Hot Spring

Overview

Kotan Hot Spring offers a unique open-air bathing experience on the shores of Lake Kussharo. This secluded, free-to-enter hot spring features stone-built pools with the lake stretching out before you. A large rock divides the bathing area, but it's essentially mixed bathing, so swimwear or towels are acceptable. In winter, enjoy the company of swans swimming nearby, or visit during sunset for breathtaking golden views over the lake. Located in Kussharo Kotan, Teshikaga, easily accessible by bus from Kawayu Onsen Station. Note that it is an open-air bath with minimal privacy.
