Kameoka Hachimangu Shrine, located near both JR Zushi Station and Keikyu Shin-Zushi Station, offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Zushi. Known for its connection to turtles (kame), the shrine features unique turtle statues alongside traditional guardian dogs. The shrine's name, "Kameoka," is derived either from the area's gently sloping, turtle-shell-like terrain or as a counterpart to the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, admire the detailed carvings on the main hall, and explore the small grounds, which include the vibrant Man'ei Inari Shrine. It's a conveniently located spot to experience local religious culture and take a break during your Zushi explorations. The adjacent city hall also provides public restrooms.
