Santoka's Path in Hofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture, traces the route poet Santoka Taneda took to elementary school. This quiet backstreet, running west from Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, features stone-paved sections marked with straw sandal footprints and displays of Santoka's poetry on the walls of houses. While the original scenery from Santoka's time is gone, the path offers a glimpse into his connection with the area. The path starts near Santoka Furusato Museum and leads to the site of his birthplace, taking about 10 minutes to walk. Be aware that some sections pass through residential areas, so it's best visited during daylight hours.
