Jikoji Temple, also known as Ajisai Temple (Hydrangea Temple), is a historic site just a 5-minute walk from Onomichi Station. It's the first temple on the Onomichi Seven Temple Pilgrimage, dedicated to prolonging life. A unique feature is the large stone gate made of granite, believed to extend one's lifespan by the power of its stones. Visitors can also create a clay Buddha statue to be fired in the temple's kiln and sent later. The temple also houses a national treasure, the Puxian Yansheng Statue.
