The Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Hayama, opened in 1951 as Japan's first public modern art museum. Located a 20-minute bus ride from Zushi Station, this seaside museum offers rotating exhibitions (4-5 times a year) in a scenic setting. Enjoy modern art, stroll through the sculpture-filled garden with views of the sea, and relax at the restaurant with ocean vistas. Note that exhibition fees vary, but are free for high school students and younger, as well as visitors with disabilities. Parking is available for a fee, with discounted rates for museum visitors. The museum is closed for construction until June.
