Urasa Bishamondo Temple (Fukoji Temple) is located a 5-minute walk from Urasa Station on the JR Joetsu Shinkansen line. This ancient temple, revered by Uesugi Kenshin, is famous for the Naked Pushing Festival held every March 3rd, one of Japan's three great unusual festivals. The temple grounds feature impressive structures like the Sanmon gate and Bishamondo hall. Don't miss the ceiling painting of twin dragons by Tani Buncho in the Sanmon gate. The temple's location along the former Hokkoku Road adds to its historical charm. The back mountain of the temple is the site of Urasa Castle, which takes about 2 hours to climb from the temple.
