Wakasahiko Shrine, also known as the upper shrine of Wakasa Ichinomiya, is located a short distance from Wakasahime Shrine. Dedicated to Hikohohodemi no Mikoto, also known as Yamasachihiko, this ancient shrine, founded in the Nara period, exudes a solemn atmosphere within its lush cedar forest. Visitors can explore the main hall, sacred gate, and Zuijin gate arranged in a straight line. The shrine is believed to bestow blessings for fishing, matchmaking, safe childbirth, education, protection from evil, and traffic safety. The 'Couple Cedars' are particularly popular, said to bring marital harmony and family safety. Though the shrine is a 20-minute bicycle ride from Obama Station, it's a serene and mystical place to visit.
