Sesshu's Grave

Overview

Visit the final resting place of Sesshu, a renowned artist and Zen monk, at his grave located in Oki-an, Masuda. Sesshu, who sought a peaceful environment during the Warring States period, contributed to the gardens of Ikou-ji and Manpuku-ji temples. He spent his last years in Masuda, passing away at Daikian. The current tomb was erected by locals in the Edo period, housing relics from the original burial site. Explore the serene grounds and discover other Sesshu-related artifacts within Daikian. It's easily accessible by bus from Masuda Station.
