Nukisaki Shrine, located in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture, is a unique and historically significant site. Known as one of Japan's rare "descending shrines," the path leads downhill from the torii gate to the main hall. Founded in 531, the shrine is dedicated to the gods Futsunushi-no-Kami and Hime-Okami. The current buildings, rebuilt in 1635 by Tokugawa Iemitsu, are designated Important Cultural Properties. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful architecture, including the main hall, worship hall, and two-story gate, especially during the cherry blossom season. The shrine is easily accessible, a 10-minute walk from Joshu-Ichinomiya Station, and is open year-round, making it a popular destination for New Year's visits.
