Hokoji Shrine, the guardian shrine of Takato Castle, is steeped in history and was deeply revered by feudal lords. A long, impressive stone staircase leads to the serene main hall nestled within a tranquil forest. The shrine offers a peaceful escape, though the main hall shows some signs of age. Visitors should be prepared for a climb of over 300 steps. A small shrine housing many Daruma dolls is also located on the grounds. A parking area is available partway up the path, offering an alternative to climbing the entire staircase.
