Yunomine Onsen is one of Japan's oldest hot springs, nestled in a quiet, secluded valley along the Yunotanigawa River, a tributary of the Kumano River. Known since the Heian period as a purification site for Kumano pilgrims, it features over ten spring sources, including the famous Tsuboyu bath, which is said to change color seven times a day. The waters, rich in sulfur and sodium bicarbonate, are believed to alleviate skin diseases, rheumatism, and gastrointestinal issues. Visitors can also enjoy cooking eggs and vegetables in the hot spring vents. Located in Hongu-cho, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, it's accessible by bus from Shingu Station.
