The Sugawa Visitor Center, located in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture, serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the Mount Kurikoma area. Situated near the Sugawa Kogen Onsen, the center provides valuable information about the local nature, including the formation of Mount Kurikoma and its diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can find hiking maps, learn about the area's wildlife through exhibits featuring taxidermied animals, and even listen to recordings of local bird songs. Note that the center is closed on Mondays and during the winter season (early November to early May).
