Matsugasaki Shrine, located in the former Ninomaru (second bailey) of Yonezawa Castle, enshrines Uesugi Yozan, a renowned lord of the Yonezawa Domain. Later, Uesugi Kagekatsu, Naoe Kanetsugu, Hosoi Heishu, Takemata Tsunakane, and Yorito Yoshimasa were also enshrined here. The shrine was established in 1902 as a branch of Uesugi Shrine. Visitors can explore the well-maintained grounds and gardens. It is conveniently accessible, a 10-minute bus ride from Yonezawa Station followed by a 3-minute walk from the Uesugi Jinja bus stop. The shrine holds annual festivals in April and September.
