Sano Shrine, also known as Semano Gamisha, is located in Takaharu, Nishi Morokata District, Miyazaki Prefecture. While there's another Sano Shrine near Miyakonojo, this one is part of the Kirishima Rokusha Gongen shrines. The shrine is known for its approach lined with ancient Sano cedar trees, designated as a natural monument. A large Japanese Zelkova tree, selected as one of Miyazaki Prefecture's Notable Trees, also stands on the grounds. Visitors describe the shrine's forest as a sacred and powerful spot. It's located about 30 minutes by car from Kirishima Jingu Shrine on Route 223 towards Miyazaki, making it convenient to visit alongside Kirishima East Shrine.
