Sanshiro Island, located off Dogashima in Nishi-Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a scenic spot famous for the Tombolo phenomenon. At low tide, a path appears, allowing visitors to walk to the nearest island, Densuke Island. The island is actually a collective name for four islands: Elephant Island, Nakanoshima Island, Okino Island, and Takashima Island. Depending on the viewing angle, the number of visible islands changes, hence the name "Sanshiro" (meaning three or four). It's accessible by car from Numazu IC to Dogashima (approx. 2 hours) and a 3-minute walk from the Seihama bus stop. The best time to visit is during low tide to experience the Tombolo, and the area is known for beautiful sunsets.
