Mount Takachiho, located in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, is known as the mountain where the gods first descended to Earth, marking the beginning of "Tenson Korin." The mountain's reddish-brown surface, devoid of vegetation, changes colors beautifully with the sunrise and sunset. At the summit, you'll find the "Amano Sakahoko" (Heavenly Reversing Spear), said to have been dropped upside down by the gods during their descent. Access is via a 45-minute drive from Mizobe Kagoshima Airport IC on the Kyushu Expressway to the Takachiho Kawara Visitor Center. The elevation is 1,574m.
