Amidaji Temple, a branch of Todai-ji, was established in 1187 by the monk Chogen, who played a key role in rebuilding Todai-ji. Known as the 'Hydrangea Temple,' it boasts 4,000 hydrangea bushes of 80 varieties, making June the best time to visit. The temple features a charming thatched-roof Niomon gate and a historic main hall. Visitors can also explore the stone bath, believed to have been built by Chogen to soothe laborers, which is still available for use on the first Sunday of each month. The temple offers a serene atmosphere perfect for a peaceful stroll.
