Amazaki Castle Ruins, designated a historical site by Ehime Prefecture, are a prime example of a maritime castle used by pirate clans. Located in Kamiura-cho, Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, the ruins are a 5-minute walk from the Omishima IC. Access to the island is typically by chartered boat, though during extreme low tides several times a year, it's possible to walk from the shore. The castle dates back to 1573-1592. While little remains of the original structure, the unique island setting and historical significance make it a worthwhile visit, especially during low tide when you can explore the stone walls and other remnants. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear for navigating the rocky terrain. The views are exceptional!
