Mount Yari, also known as Mount Yarigatake, is the second highest peak in the Northern Alps and is often called the "Matterhorn of Japan" due to its sharp, triangular summit. Located in Kamitakara, Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, it takes approximately 9 hours to reach from Shin-Hotaka Onsen. The peak offers panoramic views of surrounding mountains like Mount Tsubakuro, Mount Hotaka, and Mount Tateyama. The challenging climb is a popular destination for experienced hikers and mountaineers. Access is available via a 90-minute bus ride from Takayama Station. Be aware that the climb to the summit involves steep ascents and rocky terrain.
