Kaiko Shrine, located within the Komoro Castle Ruins at Kaikoen Park, is a serene and historically significant site. Originally built in the Meiji era, it enshrines Sugawara no Michizane (god of learning), deities, and the spirits of the successive lords of the Makino clan. Visitors can explore the shrine's peaceful grounds, view the 'Mirror Stone' said to have been used by Yamamoto Kansuke, and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty, especially during the autumn foliage season. The shrine is accessible via a short walk from Komoro Station, making it an easy addition to any visit to Kaikoen Park. Note that an entrance fee to Kaikoen Park is required to access the shrine. Open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, but closed Wednesdays from December to mid-March, year-end holidays, and during park closures.
