The Atomic Bomb Dome, formerly the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, stands as a haunting reminder of the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Designed by Czech architect Jan Letzel and opened in 1915, this skeletal ruin is preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996, symbolizing the devastation and serving as a poignant memorial. Located in Hiroshima's city center, it's easily accessible by tram from Hiroshima Station or by bus from Hiroshima Airport. Visitors can reflect on the importance of peace while viewing this preserved structure. The Mahatma Gandhi statue, gifted in honor of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, is located just south of the dome.
