Mt. Toritate, located on the ridge extending west from the border of Fukui and Ishikawa prefectures, is a popular destination, especially during the Mizubasho (Asian skunk cabbage) blooming season from early to late May. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the remaining snow on Mt. Haku, as well as the high-altitude wetlands. Autumn foliage is also a highlight from early to late October. The trailhead is accessible by a 50-minute car ride from Katsuyama Station and a 30-minute drive from the Katsuyama IC on the Chubu Jukan Expressway, followed by an 85-minute walk. Parking is available for a fee, which varies depending on the size of the vehicle, starting from ¥500.
