Mount Koshiki, or Koshikidake, is a distinctive stratovolcano located in Ebino, Miyazaki Prefecture, within the Kirishima mountain range. Standing at 1,301 meters, it's known for its symmetrical cone shape, often likened to a miniature version of Mount Karakuni. The mountain features a 400-meter diameter crater near its summit, which contains a unique wetland. Hiking to the summit offers panoramic views of Mount Karakuni, Mount Takachiho, and even Sakurajima on clear days. The trailhead is accessible from the Ebino Plateau, near Fudo Pond, with the ascent taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Be aware that some trails can be steep and may require appropriate footwear. The surrounding area also boasts beautiful coniferous forests, designated as natural monuments.
