Mount Iwate, the highest peak in Iwate Prefecture, is also known as Nanbu Kata Fuji. This popular dormant volcano offers stunning views and diverse attractions, including alpine plant communities and the Yakebashiri lava flow. Visitors can access the mountain via the Oshinzaka Course (approx. 4 hours from Oshinzaka parking area) or the Amibari Course (approx. 5 hours with the ski lift). Located in Shizukuishi Town, Takizawa Village, and Hachimantai City, it's a 40-minute drive from Morioka IC to the Oshinzaka trailhead parking lot. The mountain stands at an elevation of 2,038.2 meters.
