The Tomioka Archive Museum, established in July 2021, chronicles the history of Tomioka Town from ancient times to the present day. A significant portion of the museum is dedicated to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, featuring exhibits related to the tsunami and nuclear disaster. Visitors can see a severely damaged police car that belonged to two officers who perished while alerting residents to evacuate. The museum also offers a mixed reality (MR) experience that simulates the town's transformation before and after the disaster. Located on a small hill where Tomioka Town's public facilities are gathered, it's accessible by rental bicycle from the station's tourist information center or by the Tomioka Town Office-bound bus, alighting at the Tomioka Town Cultural Center bus stop. Admission is free, making it an essential visit to learn about the town's experiences and raise disaster awareness.
