The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Kure Museum, also known as the Iron Whale Museum, is Japan's first museum to exhibit a real, massive submarine on land. Explore the history of the Maritime Self-Defense Force and Kure City through historical materials related to the development and current state of submarines, as well as the achievements of minesweepers. Visitors can board the grounded submarine and experience life inside, with recreated spaces like the captain's and officers' rooms. Get a hands-on feel for the submarine's structure and experience the underwater environment.
