Anzenji Temple, founded in 1655, is located in Murakami, Niigata, along what is known as the "black street." The temple is renowned for its impressive two-story gate (Romon), a unique architectural feature in the Murakami castle town. Visitors can explore the temple grounds and admire the Romon, which dates back to 1712. The temple also features a notable Takao maple tree, a designated natural monument of Murakami City, known for its vibrant autumn colors. The graves of Kubota Senryu, a Murakami clan doctor and explorer, and Hagurodake Gon'goro, a sumo wrestler, are also located here. It's a great place to visit in conjunction with a stroll along the atmospheric street.
