Visit the Ibaraki University Go-ura Art and Culture Research Institute in Kitaibaraki to explore the former site of the Japan Art Institute, once led by Okakura Tenshin. The institute displays Tenshin's artifacts and is near Tenshin's former residence, the Tenshin Memorial Museum, and the Tenshin Iseki Memorial Park. See the Rokkakudo (Hexagonal Pavilion), which was rebuilt after the 2011 tsunami. The site offers beautiful coastal views and a glimpse into the history of modern Japanese art. Open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (November to January), with a small admission fee for high school students and adults.
