The Nitchu Dam, located near Kitakata City in Fukushima Prefecture and close to the Yamagata border, is a rock-fill dam completed in 1970. It serves multiple purposes, including flood control, irrigation, water supply, and power generation for the Oshikiri River. The dam's stone-stacked surface and the nearby Nitchu Onsen's Himotoya inn, which was relocated due to the dam's construction, are notable features. Visitors can obtain a dam card at the management office, which also offers parking and audio guidance. The surrounding area offers scenic views, especially during the autumn foliage season.
