Kakimoto Shrine, also known locally as Hitomaru-san, is dedicated to the renowned Man'yō poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro. Overlooking the Akashi Strait, the shrine features a monument to Hitomaro's poetry, as well as the legendary Mejirō-zakura cherry tree and Yatsufusa-ume plum tree. It's a popular spot for prayers for fire prevention, safe childbirth, and success in exams. Located a 5-minute walk from Hitomaruzen Station on the Sanyo Electric Railway, the shrine is open from 9:00 to 16:30. Visit in the spring to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms and plum blossoms. The shrine offers barrier-free access, including wheelchair ramps and accessible restrooms.
