Edo post town

Ouchijuku, a former post town on the Edo Period Aizu-Nishi Kaido trade route, has been beautifully restored to its historic charm. The unpaved main street is lined with traditional thatched-roof buildings housing shops, eateries, and small inns. Highlights include the former Honjin, now a museum showcasing Edo-era artifacts, as well as a hilltop temple offering panoramic views and a tranquil shrine tucked among cedar trees. Visitors can enjoy specialties like handmade soba noodles and char fish roasted on sticks, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of Japan's past.
