Seasonal Elegance

Tucked into the hills of Nagaoka, Momijien Maple Garden is a historic Japanese garden established in 1896 as the villa retreat of the Takahashi family. Spanning 4,000 square meters, the garden features over 400 trees—including Kyoto-imported maples and mountain cherries—that create vivid seasonal displays. In autumn, the Koshiji Momiji Matsuri lights up the foliage from late October to late November, offering a magical evening atmosphere. The adjacent Tomoegaoka Villa, a registered cultural property, houses traditional tatami rooms and a tea space, available by reservation. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the on-site café while taking in the serene landscape
