Meiji era Fusion

The Former Kameoka Family Residence in Date City’s Hobara district is a unique blend of Western and Japanese architecture from the early 1900s. Built by silk merchant Masamoto Kameoka, it features a Western-style façade with an octagonal tower and traditional Japanese interiors. Moved from Koori Town to Hobara Comprehensive Park in 1995, it was designated a National Important Cultural Property in 2016. It now forms part of the Hobara Museum of History and Culture.
