Autumn Foliage Ropeway

Hashikura-ji Temple, located in Miyoshi, Tokushima Prefecture, is a historic mountaintop sanctuary founded by Kūkai in 828. As the head temple of the Shingon Omuro sect, it is recognized as the 15th of the 20 bekkaku (extra) temples associated with the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Accessible via the Hashikurasan Ropeway, visitors can ascend to the temple's serene grounds, which are renowned for their seasonal beauty, including cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant foliage in autumn. The temple complex features ornate wooden structures adorned with intricate carvings, and it maintains a unique blend of Shinto and Buddhist traditions. Daily goma fire rituals are conducted, preserving centuries-old esoteric practices.
