Aviation History

Kakamigahara offers a blend of natural beauty and technological heritage. In spring, the Shinsakai Riverbanks transform into a 4-kilometer corridor of over 1,000 cherry trees, known as Hyakujuro Sakura, donated by kabuki actor Ichikawa Hyakujuro in 1931. This site is celebrated as one of Japan's Top 100 cherry blossom spots, attracting visitors for hanami picnics and evening illuminations. Nearby, the Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum—Japan’s largest aerospace museum—features 43 aircraft and full-scale space exhibits, including models of the ISS "Kibo" module and the Hayabusa2 probe. Interactive displays and simulators provide an engaging experience for all ages.
