Myth & Tradition
The neighboring towns of Fukuhara and Inada in Ibaraki Prefecture are rich in spiritual heritage. Fukuhara is home to the Hitachinokuni Izumo Shrine, a branch of Shimane's Izumo Taisha, featuring a massive hinoki-wood structure and an iconic shimenawa rope, dedicated to Okuninushi-no-Okami, the deity of marriage and fortune. Inada boasts the historic Sainenji Temple (Inada Gobo), a serene Zen temple with traditional architecture, and Inada Shrine, enshrining Princess Kushinada.
