Iconic Wisteria Tunnel

Kawachi Fujien Wisteria Garden, nestled in the hills south of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, is renowned for its breathtaking wisteria displays. The garden features two impressive tunnels—one 80 meters and the other 110 meters long—crafted from over 20 varieties of wisteria, including dark purple, white, and pink blooms. A panoramic viewpoint atop the garden offers sweeping views of the vibrant flowers and surrounding bamboo groves. The garden is open seasonally during the wisteria bloom in late April to early May and the autumn foliage season in mid-November to early December. Due to its popularity, especially during the peak wisteria season, advance reservations are required. 1 hour walk (5 km) from the Sanjo cable car station.
