Higashine City, often referred to as the "Fruit Kingdom," is Japan's leading cherry-producing region, accounting for approximately 70% of the nation's output. The city is renowned as the birthplace of the premium Sato Nishiki variety. From late April to early July, over 20 tourist orchards open their doors for cherry picking, offering a delightful experience for visitors. The city is conveniently located near Yamagata Airport and is accessible via the JR Sakuranbo-Higashine Station.
