Sacred Blooms

Amabiki Kannon in Sakuragawa, founded in 587, is a historic Shingon temple known for blessings of safe childbirth and protection from misfortune. It’s celebrated for seasonal blooms—especially hydrangeas during the Hydrangea Festival in June–July, featuring a unique floating display. Highlights include a Heian-era Kannon statue shown annually in April, a tahōtō pagoda, and free-roaming peacocks. Easily reached by taxi from Iwase Station, the temple offers a peaceful escape in nature.
