Hidden Cascade

Kuwanoki Falls is a 21-meter-high waterfall nestled in the Kuwanoki Gorge, a tributary of the Takada River in Shingū, Wakayama. Recognized among Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, its name—meaning “Mulberry Tree Falls”—derives from the mulberry trees that once thrived nearby. The trail to the falls begins near Kuwanoki Bridge and passes by the spiritual Oga Hachiman Shrine and a suspension bridge over a clear mountain stream. The final stretch requires a short, rocky ascent, rewarding visitors with a serene view of the falls cascading into a tranquil pool. Accessible via a 15-minute walk from the Oga bus stop, Kuwanoki Falls offers a peaceful retreat into nature
